Door Chimes: Frequently Asked Questions
My husband and I are senior citizens. We live alone in the house
we build nearly 30 years ago. Since our sons moved across the country
we rarely get visitors and sometimes feel quite isolated. I’m
not altogether comfortable with the safety of our home. Would a
door chime be an asset to us?
A door chime is always a good idea for keeping track of who is
coming in and out of your house. Since you are an older couple you
are more likely to be the target of burglaries or schemes to defraud
you of your money. If you don’t yet have an alarm system on
your home it may be a good idea to get one for when your not there
or at night. I also am including some more safety devises for your
protection.
- Do not rush into something involving your money or property.
- Be wary of something-for-nothing or get-rich-quick schemes.
- Never sign a contract until you and your lawyer, banker or
expert has thoroughly read it.
- Never turn over large sums of cash to anyone, especially a
stranger, no matter how promising the deal looks.
- Do not hesitate to check the credentials of a salesman or public
official.
- Arrange for incoming cheques to be sent directly to your bank.
- Report all suspicious offers to the Police immediately.
